This time of year has a tendency to make me feel as unsettled as grandma’s leftover jello salad.
Not because the presents still haven’t all been put away (they haven’t), or that I’m dreading taking down the holiday decorations (I love the twinkly lights with my whole soul).
It’s the stupid “curse of the week between” Christmas and the New Year.
Goals for the new year float in my head (so many possibilities!!), thoughts of how the last year went (it’s been a doozy to say the least #2020!!). This week heightens my innate desire to do better, keep moving the ball forward, putting more pressure on myself to do more than is ever realistic. Any other dreamers and over-achievers feeling me??
Breathe. Just breathe.
Because you know what’s funny? We’re always right in the middle of our past and our future.
It’s just that right at this moment, the world is quiet enough that I actually listen to my heart about it.
Thank you, quiet world! We needed that. Let’s choose to celebrate surviving the upheaval that was 2020 and view 2021 (and ourselves) through a more compassionate lens because of it.
Today, I choose to embrace it….the jello jiggle, the middle, whatever you want to call it. I hope you’ll do the same.
Big 20/21 hugs!
Jess
